After nearly a decade, the Shack is back! Situated just a stones throw from its original Knightsbridge location, the Chicago Rib Shack has brought a heart-warming slice of America to one of the most prestigious areas of London. Set to a lively soundtrack of soul, rock and blues, diners can start in the bar with a round of American beers, cocktails or bourbons before settling down to a meal of delicious barbequed and smoked meats. Signature dishes include the full rack of baby back ribs, onion loaf, manslaw, potato skins and the classic Rib Shack burger. All of their meat is sourced from English free-range farms and the smoked meats are dry-rubbed with a 25-year old spice blend – delicious!

I used to eat the best "babyback ribs" of whole Europ in the former Chicago Ribs of the 90ths.It was ,even, the favourite " canteen" in Knightsbridge of lady Di and the 2 Princes...
What a disappointment on my last ( definively last !) visit a fortnight ago : So called "babyback ribs" were badly cut "rib tips" with huge bones and not much meat ,badly rubbed and marinated, badly cooked : the "glaze" was dropping in the plate . :Awfully filthy .!! Shabby service ,pathetic waitresses !! Mausoleum's athmospere !!

Brilliant evening out! A friend and I went for an after-work dinner here last week and were thoroughly impressed with both the food and service. The atmosphere was perhaps a little quiet, but as we were dining some time before 6pm this hardly mattered. Overall, fantastic for food and a suitable restaurant for professionals and families alike.

Went to Rib Shack last night. Party of 11. Waiter and the rest of the staff were absolutely fantastic. Shame about the supervisors/managers - they need to be sent on courses on how to speak and deal with customers. No customer care! One member of the party asked for medium to rare steak. Arrived well done. Waiter kindly took it back, the same one came back after 10 minutes and the head chef said that he was not prepared to make another one, we had to eat the same one. By this time it was cold. The supervisor didn't handle it well. Refused to make another steak and insisted that we choose something else. To be honest it seems strange that the Manager would allow the chef to make a decision like this and upset a customer - very strange, there must be a reason for him to have such authority!! The person's second meal came about 1 hour after everyone else's. Excellent service!!
I have been to the Rib Shack many times, but do not think I will be returning. Thank god our waiter was nice, otherwise we would have just got up and walked away.

Went to the CRS last night with my 11 year old (his birthday), my wife and 2 of his brothers (aged 12 and 16). We were unanimous in our opinion - it was the worst birthday meal we had had...ever!
Admittedly we were early (6.15pm) but the place was lifeless. Our waitress couldn't have delivered her rehearsed lines in a more disinterested way if she tried.

Food was overpriced (ok this is Knightsbridge) but if you charge a fiver for a Caesar salad it shouldn't taste sour, look grey and be the size of a small sideplate.

Specifically:

Chicken wings in their signature BBQ sauce were just under a pound each and the sauce was almost pure sugar. Inedible.
Half a BBQ chicken was £15.75 and was just enough to satisfy the 11 year old. Half a very small chicken.
Ribs were ok but not very juicy - I felt they had been sitting around for a bit and had started to dry out.
£14.95 for a burger. The Gourmet Burger Company have set a standard for burgers and the CRS failed to match it by quite a long way.

In all £73 for 1 burger, 1 half rack, 1 half chicken, 2 fries, 1 Caesar salad, 8 wings , 1 diet coke and 1 Peroni.

We were tempted in by their half price offers but the list is very limited.

My wife and I had been to its previous incarnation and were looking forward to going back.

What a dreadful disappointment and there is no way we will ever be tempted to repeat last night's awful meal. It scored no points on atmosphere, service, quality and value. You can do much better than this if your'e looking for the authentic American diner type experience.

Our son's birthday meal will be remebered for all the wrong reasons. He coloured in the pig and handed it in- as a prize they gave him a voucher for a free kid's meal which he threw away as soon as he got outside. Enough said.
