Drink prices may be as breathtaking as the views (white wine from £7.50 a glass, up to £795.50 for a magnum of Krug champagne), suggesting the economic downturn hasn’t hit every banker’s bonus. Food, though, is more down to earth. Options include wild mushroom tart with artichoke salad, and seared peppered tuna steak, each coming with a recommended tipple. A more complete menu is available at Rhodes Twenty Four, some 18 floors below. Seating is arranged so everyone gets to enjoy the panorama; the soothing purple colour scheme helps those not good with heights.

The waiter tried to charge me for a bottle of champagne that we hadn't had. What is worse he argued with me insisting that we had one more bottle without even checking. There were three of us and when you are buying champagne at £70 per bottle you know how many you've had !!!! He was so rude, even when eventually after lotrs of embarrasment he realsied it was his mistake, that I will never visit sagain....stay clear
