  • £10.50 for full English breakfast which comprises of 1 sausage, 2 eggs poached or fried, 2 small rashers of streaky bacon, 1 small mushroom, half a grilled tomato a spoonful of baked beans and a small bowl if skinny fries. Despite the shockingly poor value for money it doesn't even taste that great. Can't comment on the dishes they serve but based on this will not be going back.

  • I had a meeting with some business colleagues, we decided to meet at Wallaces on the Upper Richmond Road.. The coffee was tasteless, we had a few coissants which were made of stale pastry or at least they tasted that way, the pain au chocolat was made to taste of cardboard, where do they buy this stuff. It is just as easy to buy decent pastries and good coffee as this sub-standard fare. I did not go in there expecting high quality patisserie food but this was so bad I am driven to comment something I have never done before about any restaurant. Think hard before going.

  • I didn't even get to eat, and I give this place one star (well, no stars). Awful, awful awful, rude, miserable, incompetent service, including from the less-than-useless Maitre D'. What irritates me most though, is that this place has received considerable negative feedback for years, all over the internet - and yet nothing seems to improve. Does this smack of celeb arrogance, that punters will continue to pour in because of the association? I'm disappointed and frustrated they haven't pulled their socks up, because Putney deserves/needs some more amazing eating establishments. I also cannot fathom people/companies who show no inclination to improve themselves - especially in light of blanket criticism

  • I'm quite surprised by these negative comments! I'm a Putney local and have enjoyed Wallace's hospitality on numerous occasions since it opened. The service is friendly and courteous; the worst that can be said about it is that it is a little slow on on occasion. The seasonal salads are undoubtedly their forte and the pork, stilton and apricot pie is something very special indeed; it's available for takeaway too and take it away is something I have done with relish at lunchtime often. Good vibe and it clever transforms from bustling daytime to candlelit evening. Furthermore, Mr Darcy fans, there is a delicious picture of Colin Firth and Nick Clegg enjoying a coffee at Wallace.. keep your eyes peeled...

  • I have had good experiences with friendly staff here before but today I went with my two children. A really bossy waitress refused to let us have a table for four at the back, even though the inside of the restaurant was empty 'in case it got busy later'. I think they should welcome the customers who are there and not worry about the ones that aren't or people will never go again! When we left an hour later, no-one had the table we asked for. Unfortunately, we sat next to the till, so had to hear the bossy waitress bossing all the other staff for the whole meal! Much better service in places like Valentino!! At least said waitress is doing her bit to stop the restaurant overcrowding as we have learned our lesson!!

  • Went one evening with some girlfriends and had a terrible meal. Steak over cooked and my pudding, sticky toffee pudding was awful. Sance very runny and tasteless and sponge burnt. I did mention to the waiter but he didnt seem interested even when I mentioned Gregg is a pudding man and the least I would expect is a decent pudding. Dont bother, much nicer places to eat in putney.

  • First time at Wallace & Co on a sunny Sunday and don't think I will be returning. Went for 'coffee and cake' with a friend. Service was slow and not very friendly. Viewed cakes on table and the cupcakes looked like school children had made them - icing drizzled on top with somethnig colourful plonked on top. Opted for triffle in a glass -£5 and practically no flavour despite the almonds, cream, custard, jelly, sponge and fruit - how something with so many ingredients can be so bland is beyond me!

  • Decided to give Wallace and Co a second chance after being extremely disappointed with service and serving sizes the first time round. To their credit wait staff were very nice but possibly a little too relaxed as they missed out on several opportunities to offer drinks. Unfortunately, the chef's are inflexible and can't even accommodate the poaching of an egg instead of frying. Thats right I asked for a poached egg instead of fried on my 'all day breakfast' and was refused. What ever happened to putting the customer first? A much better option for breakfast in Putney is 'Grind' on lower Richmond road, best coffee in London and great breakfasts at really great prices.

  • Found the reception a little icy (a 'Hello' would have been nice) and management/ chef inflexible. We booked our table for midday, were seated at roughly 12:05 and we all ordered the All-Day breakfast. One of us asked to have the eggs scrambled instead of fried and was told that they could only do scrambled eggs before 12 o'clock. When we approached the manager to find out why the chef was so inflexible we were told 'Those are the rules'. In my opinion if you're doing an All-Day breakfast giving diners a choice of how they'd like their eggs done is essential. Food good overall but not sure I will be going back.

  • We went to Wallace for Saturday bunch and was extremely disappointed by the poor and rude service we received. We were very much looking forward to dinning at Wallace give we have driven past many times and looks very welcoming. However to our disbelief when we walked in a few waiting staff walked straight past us and then a young chap stop and asked us if we had a reservation which we didn't and proceeded to ignore us and tap away at the screen for a while. Hmm for brunch not something we always plan and book for. The restaurant wasn't even busy, and there were lots of tables available at the back by the window and outside but he proceeded to sit us by the stairwell even though there were other more discreet tables. I change my mind and asked to sit outside which he proceeded to say why didn't say so earlier. Which i was rather taken back by his attitude. Great first impressions!! Unfortunately the service just got from worst to bad and we were ignored outside it took us ages to order drinks and food. Admittely the food was lovely when it came until I found a hair in my chips which was v off putting!!! I don't think we will ever fine there again given the similar experience of poor service from other reviews I don't think many others will go there again. I think we will stick with cafe moomba as we eat there time and time again for Saturday brunch and have never been disapointed but wish they would bring back the grapefruit juice -we miss it!! I suggest the staff at Wallace need some training in customer service!!!
