Gold dust! shops like these are the anti-dote to crap mp3 sound and amazon! Real customer care. Just spent 2 hours in there getting very sound advice from Simon, who helped me see that the equipment I already have is good enough for my immediate purposes, and I've started to compile a wish-list from the goodies in the shop, including a new (beautiful secondhand) stereo ...maybe some speakers too...

A mix of new, second-hand and hireable audio products, Audio Gold is one of the best places in London to track down old-school equipment – from ghetto blasters to gramophones, this store has it covered. The extensive ‘prop hire’ section celebrates all the ‘strange and beautiful’ machines the owners have picked up over the years, which is ideal for the media industry (film shoots or magazine articles especially) looking to set the scene with an original Walkman or a 1980s clock-radio. The list of manufacturers covered includes typical brands (Sony, Toshiba, Denon, Tivoli) but by and large they are names from a realm that’s beyond the high street’s vocabulary: turntables by Linn, speakers by Quad, amps by Sugden and so on. Audio Gold also buys your second-hand equipment – as long as it works, of course.
