Chatsworth Road Market

I was born at hackney hospital and raised in chatsworth road. my dad-len field had a stall selling second hand furniture and china for several years. I have a picture of granddad there in the late 40's. i now live in chicago,usa,but often think of my roots.

Enuff already. I regularly buy bread at Percy Ingle and get jerk chicken from Too Sweet at least once a week - I also trade and shop at the market - you can do both!

enuff already. You will be pleased to hear the majority of the market traders are in fact local to Chatsworth Road many of them walking or cycling their stock to the street. You mention Pecry Ingles it has only just started to open on Sundays, due to the foot traffic on a Sunday generated by the market, Sunday has now over taken Saturday as the best day for a number of Chatsworth Shop Traders. Having said that the market is always open to and keen to support even more local traders, so if you know of anyone or want to start a stall yourself contact them at info@chatsworthroade5.co.uk

Yet another attempt at gentrification through middle class hipster colonization. Chats road was and is a vibrant community, where are all the local traders involved in this market? Do the hipsters go to Percy Ingle or Too Sweet after scoffing their organic artisan bread? I think not. Figures the other commenter "trekked from Stokey", great minds think alike.

I lived in Chatsworth Rd throughout the war, I lived next door to,the Italians ice creamm shop. I wonder how many people remember the war years and the bombing

My grandfather, Harry Blyth, opened a butcher's shop at 58 Chatsworth Road in 1911. My father, Leslie H Blyth, took over the business in 1939 at the outbreak of WW2. I am Barrie Blyth and now live in Florida, but I worked in the shop from 1962-73. I remember many of the shops and also the stall holders. My father lived over the shop when he was a boy and told me many stories of the WW1 years. I remember many names and many stories. I don't know if any of this information would be of any use to anyone but if so I would be very happy to share some of the memories I have of my father's stories and also my own. I have a picture of my grandfather's opening day (somewhere!) with vast amounts of meat on display hanging outside the shop. I don't think think the inspectors would allow that today!
