    Elemis SpaPod

  • Just opened
    Elemis SpaPod
The Elemis day spa in Mayfair has long been a favourite for beauty junkies, so the news of a second spa is likely to be greeted with the applause of a thousand finely manicured hands. Those who are strapped for time can now drop into a mini-spa tucked into a corner of Harvey Nichols’ beauty hall. Stepping inside the tiny pod is like entering a bejewelled cocoon with walls covered in beige raw silk, low-level crystal lights that pulse with different colours and Missoni silk curtains. There’s a choice of three Elemis Power Booster Facials for women and one for men (£45 each), all of which last 30 minutes. While enjoying your facial, you sit in a sophisticated massage chair that assesses weight and spine position, and leaves you feeling fully relaxed and rejuvenated. We know where we’ll be spending our lunch breaks from now on.
    Elemis SpaPod, Harvey Nichols, 109-125 Knightsbridge, SW1 (020 7235 5000) Knightsbridge tube. Open Mon-Fri 10am-8pm, Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 12noon-6pm.

    Lunch magazine
It’s all too easy to become jaded about doing the right thing. Slaloming past the chuggers on the high street or worrying about your eco-footprint before skipping aboard a cheap flight to Europe have become an integral part of city life. Offering a fresh take on the conundrum of conscience vs lifestyle is new magazine Lunch. Thought-provoking ideas are packaged in bite-size features with the serious subject matter nicely balanced with hip design from former Wallpaper* visual ace Herbert Winkler. Editor Karen Chung plans to put out four issues a year; this quarter you can read about fundraising suggestions such as introducing an office swear box, ways to create less waste, how to host your own (glam) fundraiser, and architectural developments in social housing. Long may it last.
Lunch magazine (www.industryofchung.com) costs £5 and is available from literary and style outlets across London including Tate Modern bookshop, Bankside SE1(020 7887 8888) Blackfriars or Southwark tube. Open daily 10am-5.40pm.
