Despite the rise of eBay and its ilk, the car boot sale is alive and well, and still a good place to bag a bargain, potter about or just laugh at tat. Time Out gets the low-down on some of Greater London's best sales from a seasoned carbooter
Battersea
A lively sale attracting a mix of house clearance vultures and local residents having a de-junk.
Where Battersea Tec College, Battersea Park Rd, (entrance in Dagnall St) SW11 (07941 383 588) Queenstown Road/Battersea rail.

Cuffley
A large sale with well over 100 pitches selling a varied selection of secondhand and antique items.

A huge sale that is strictly secondhand, which means no men in white vests selling bog roll. Bargains aplenty.

Hewitts Farm, Orpington
This well-established sale has a high quantity and quality of stock thanks to its affluent location. It’s mainly secondhand, with 75 pitches.

Holloway
A small but popular sale attracting a vibrant mix of buyers and sellers, from regulars peddling DVDs, electrical goods and fake perfume, to local homeowners getting rid of their stuff. Well worth a rummage.

Hook Road Arena, Epsom
The daddy of bank holiday car boot sales has a massive 700 pitches selling both new and secondhand gear, so expect a a huge mix.
Where Hook Road Arena, at the junction of Hook Rd and Chessington Road, Epsom (01372 724 568). Epsom rail from Victoria.
When Every bank holiday Monday from 7.30am, except Spring bank holiday at the end of May.

'It's a genuine reproduction' Kilburn
Huge car boot sale with a wide variety of new and secondhand stock. Attracts a mix of people, including north and west Londoners getting rid of junk.

Wimbledon Stadium
A nice big, spread-out boot sale with a good mix of sellers peddling secondhand goods. Great for bargains on furniture and crockery.

Can anyone tell me if the boot sale on the A3 just outside Guilford is on every weekend and on which day?
Please, can anyone recommend a location to get lots of stock suitable for a charity shop, very limited space, so cannot stock bulky items, bric-a-brac, clean childrens toys and books,

Hi Sabrina. The Bushey Outdoor Car Boot Sale in Little Bushey Lane, Bushey, Watford WD25 8JS is not far from North London, depending on whereabouts. It's open every Sunday to sellers from 8.30 am and buyers from 10.00 am. There are lots of young families who come to buy so your children's clothes should do well! Good luck!

Hi Saty. The Bushey Giant Car Boot Sale in Little Bushey Lane, Bushey, Watford is only 10 mins from Stanmore. Your designer clothes etc would go down well there! It's £10 for a pitch and you don't need to book in advance - just turn up! Gates open at 8.30, so don't arrive earlier than that. It's open every Sunday and their contact no is 07751 235439. If you are not too far from the M1 at Brent Cross, NW London, the Bushey Car Boot Sale is only 20 mins away! Take the M1 north and take exit 5 Watford. Then take 1st exit to Watford (south) A41. At large roundabout take 3rd exit past Costco on the left. At traffic lights turn left into Little Bushey Lane and you will find the Bushey Giant Outdoor Car Boot Sale on every Sunday 100 yds on the left.

There is another ca rboot market not mentioned here which is just behind Wembley stadium. It is nice one with most of items are new but also used ones.
