  • New branch of the chic Bloomsbury book shop opens in Notting Hill

  • West London-dwellers who have never experienced the delights of Persephone Books in Bloomsbury have just got their own tiny but chic branch, on Kensington Church Street. Owner Nicola Beauman has made it her mission to revive 70 out-of-print inter-war novels by female authors and reprint them for a new audience. The books are covered in a distinctive dove grey, but each has its own exquisite endpapers, sourced from fragments of vintage material which are chosen to match each novel’s age.
Best buy ‘Few Eggs & No Oranges’ by Vere Hodgson, £10.
    109 Kensington Church St, W8 (020 7221 2201/www.persephonebooks.co.uk) Notting Hill Gate tube. Open Mon-Sat 10am-6pm.
