  • Time Out welcomes London’s first French retro hair salon to Covent Garden

  • It's_Something_Hells.jpg

It’s Something Hells is London’s first French retro hair salon. Mr Ducktail AKA The Motherkutter and Miss Betty were recently lured from Toulouse by London’s thriving vintage scene and have brought their rockabilly beauty parlour with them. Decked out in leopard print and red velvet, with rock ’n’ roll playing on the jukebox, it caters to the capital’s pin-up girls and hep cats. ‘Betty does glamorous coiffures from the ’40s to the ’60s, while I do pompadour quiffs and bad boy looks,’ says Ducktail. His speciality treatment, though, abandons scissors altogether in favour of a switchblade – not a cut for the faint-hearted.
    It’s Something Hells, Unit 2.16 Kingly Court, W1, 020 7287 0241/www.myspace.com/something_hells) Covent Garden tube. Open Mon-Sat 11am-7pm. Prices from £15.
