  • New health and beauty salon opens in Honor Oak

  • Neroli.jpg
Top marks for this classy, friendly salon in a leafy south-east London enclave. Neroli’s quickly becoming popular with locals, and justifiably so. Owner Julia Salisbury is passionate about holistic treatments and, as well as beauty sessions, there’s a nutritionist and a reflexologist. Niche products, which avoid chemical additives such as parabens, include the Eminence range of gentle plant-based organic skincare from Hungary, gorgeous tropical coconut skincare by Pure Fiji, and Time Out favourite Jurlique. The Pure Fiji Coconut Crème Body Glow (50 mins, £46) gently exfoliated, cleansed and moisturised, leaving my skin super-soft and smelling heavenly for hours. My reflexology session was wonderfully relaxing and my therapist correctly identified a couple of existing health issues. Waxing (Brazilians are £32), St Tropez tanning and men’s treatments are also available.
    Neroli, 43 Honor Oak Park, SE23 1DZ (020 8699 9496/www.neroli-skincare.co.uk) Honor Oak Park rail. Open Tue-Thur 9.30am-9pm, Fri 9.30am-7pm, Sat 9.30am-5pm, Sun 10am-4pm.

Lovely, relaxing place and always a friendly, calm atmophere. I've not experienced any of the problems described by Michelle. I have been visiting Neroli for e.g. their tropical pedicure and head massages since they've opened, and as I live more or less down the road from the salon, it is always tempting to pop in for another appointment. My only comment would be that it is sometimes tricky to get weekend appointments, but then I guess it's actually a good sign that they are busy.

I am absolutely dumbfounded by the comments made by Michelle, I believe them to be totally unprecedented, it was interesting to see that she made the decision to file her comments on 15th February (day after Valentines) maybe she should be taking her disappointment over not receiving Neroli Gift Vouchers out on her partner, afterall they are open 9:30am to 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday surely that's long enough.
I have visited Neroli on many occassions since they opened in May 2008 and congratulate Julia on managing to maintain consistently high standards throughout the salon. The atmosphere is friendly and always professional she has a great team working with her. I am always pleased if I am lucky enough to find her in the salon when I visit, I find her extremely humble and welcoming. I regulary recommend friends and colleagues to Neroli and all report back with praises.
I wish you much success with your business you so deserve it. Your hard work will pay off and remember you can't please everyone!

Quite honestly a lovely place if you never have to deal with the owner Julia Salisbury, she seems to have become a victim of her own success and is incredibly up her own @r$e! I find her very awkward and unaccommodating, I come from a family which has 7 beauty obsessed females, we have all used this place a few times and find that the staff and facilities are excellent but any time we have had to deal with Julia, for different reasons she seems to have put us all off of going there. I had a problem with some gift vouchers that were purchased for me as they hadn’t been ‘Logged onto her system correctly’, basically her system told her that I had £15 more than I actually had, I was honest as I knew I had £30 but she made such a song and dance because her system told her the voucher was for £45 – quite honestly ‘its not my problem so deal with it after im gone!’ then my partner popped by the shop at the weekend to purchase some vouchers for myself, his mum and his sister for valentines day so he was looking to spend £100, she was just closing up so I can understand that she couldn’t be bothered to re-load the system, but in the current climate would it not have made sense to sell him the gift vouchers, take his details and put it on her system the following day??? Instead she refused to sell them to him and watched him walk to another local business to spend his money, forgive me if im wrong but what a plonker! Well I can honestly say that we will not be spending another penny in her shop and the other females in my family find her just as difficult as I do so I very much doubt they will spend another penny there. So good luck Julia, you’re going to need it.

Definitely a lovely place to go to. The organic creams are also recommended, I brought a friend once whom I found it hard to drag out again after buying yummily scented creams and potions.

Have your say
