Melanie Woods and Sarah Playden are the regally minded Alcove Queens, specialist wood-workers whose chunky, floating shelves can be found fixed into alcoves across south London. For £50 for a one-to-one tutorial, the Queens will visit your home and spend two hours imparting the secrets of their trade.
