If you can create crème-pat like a pro, avoid curdling your cream or just like scoffing cake, you might want to consider popping down to Brixton’s very own Great Brixton Bake-Off II. It’s almost like the real deal, except silver-haired Liverpudlian Paul Hollywood will be replaced by the charismatic Brixton-born Levi Roots, who will be mingling with over 30 of the participating bakers. Managing Director of Patisserie Valerie Victor Scalzo will also be in attendance, painstakingly judging categories that include Vegan, Savouries and Cupcakes. For one day only, the smell of perfectly baked goodies will hang over Brixton, you’ll jive and bunny-hop during the afternoon tea dance and the sun will shine all day. It’s a south London promise.
