Well...... I would just like to recommend a great shoe mender, I have found in North London. I brought in a pair of very expensive brogue shoes into Hoxton Shoe Repairs, Hoxton Street which were wrecked. What I got back was a miracle... They looked brand new.... My girlfriend then returned with 2 x pairs of shoes and a handbag repair...We are very impressed with the service and quality...they even texted us when the repairs were done. This shop needs promotion...... And NO I am not the owner

Hey, I did a search on google for the phrase “shoe repair and saw that your website was ranked low on google. I specialize in getting websites to the top spots on google and I really feel that with the potential that your website has it’s a real shame that it is not ranked higher.

First Tailors on lower sloane streets provide shoddy alterations and charge a fortune- they tried to charge me £600 when they had quoted me £150 to alter a dress.

What about repairing books! I had this lovely book from my grandma which was falling apart so went to the bindery in Bayswater where I pass everyday to get to work. They repaired it perfectly! It is rare to see bookbinders nowadays. I look forwards to see more features like this one.

I agree it is a brilliant idea, anything that diverts the masses of things that are needlessly sent to landfill sites each year should be encouraged. Salvo (www.salvoweb.com) have a database on their site of craftspeople and restorers as well as reclamation yards where you can find many interesting items.

Does anyone know where I can get some necklaces repaired in London? I'm trying to avoid expensive jewellers as the items aren't worth vrey much

Anna Blackmre

This is a brilliant idea. Why not do regular repair and recycle shop guides for all major cities, as you do with restaurants. It's so hard to find places to get even a vacuum cleaner fixed and such a waste to throw them out. Good repairers are skilled craftspeople - more power to them!
