Mayfair shops
Find the best shops, salons and spas in Mayfair
Mayfair is renowned for its designer shops, like Dover Street Market, but there are also many specialist shops that offer unique objects that you can't find anywhere else. Bernard J Shapero stocks antique and out-of-print books, monographs, maps and more. If you'd rather pamper yourself, Mayfair's spas and hair salons are second to none. Guinot Spa provides virtually painless waxing, and The Barber at Alfred Dunhill does men's haircuts and shaves with old-school flair.

Gieves & Hawkes
1 Savile Row, London, W1S 3JRGieves & Hawkes isn't just about fine tailoring; it's also a history lesson for anyone interested in the development of men's clothes. Despite having held royal warrants without interruption for 200 years (the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Charles are all customers), the company continues to innovate. It offers three services: the beautiful ready-to-wear collection starts at £595, while its made-to-measure service starts a little higher, at £895; handmade bespoke is the premier service - it's a long procedure (we're talking months), but you'll eventually take home a luxury handmade garment made to your exact measurements and requirements.

Vivienne Westwood MAN
18 Conduit Street, London, W1S 2XNLondon's first ever outlet devoted to dame Viv's MAN label. It's burly-looking craggy rock mantelpiece (crafted from a massive chunk of blue pennant stone) dominates the space, but that's where the rugged manliness ends. The store's a bright, upbeat affair and among the requisite wonky-bottomed trousers, saucy mini-kilts and porno punk tees are pieces suggesting Westwood is aiming at a more fickle, occasional consumer than her usual collectors. Alongside wearble trenches and robust satchels you can pick up a simple plain t-shirt, necklace or cotton scarf at surprisingly low prices.
