If it’s got strings and it swings, you can buy it here. The most impressive racket sports specialist in London, Wigmore Sports has a whole room stacked full of tennis, squash and badminton rackets. This is high-end gear so don’t expect to find more than a dozen tennis rackets among the hundreds on display for much under £50; most are over £100. All the extras are here, plus specialist clobber like tennis-specific sunglasses with teal tinted lenses that mute all light except optic yellow. The footwear choice is also extensive, with something for every surface. There’s a 24-hour stringing service and an in-store practice wall so you can try before you buy. There’s also a concession in Harrods.

This place is wicked, and the very best tennis shop in all the world without any doubt whatsoever at all. You must go there now and get yourself a racquet.

Loved this store. Great advice from staff that also play racquet sports. In fact, my assistant spent about 30 mins with me discussing my game and recommending racquets to try out! Also explained why restringing my racquet is good for best playability. I took 2 new racquets out to demo (demo charges would be refunded on purchase) and found that very useful. No-one else offers this service in London.
