It's no misnomer: this small CD store/café has a strong local following and is a great place to add to your collection without being patronised by record fascists. Stock is CD-only; not all back-catalogue records make the cut and new releases only do if they're suitably interesting. You'll find a rock section that mixes classic albums by Pavement with newer releases from Fleet Foxes, a soul rack where the Marvin Gayes and Al Greens of this world snuggle up to the Corinne Bailey Raes and Marie Knights, and eclectic jazz, reggae, pop, country and world sections. Overseeing the operation is Jeremy Brill himself, as affable as he is informed, cheerfully dispensing fresh (Fairtrade) coffee, Brick Lane bagels and Flower Power bakery cakes for consumption at a smattering of outdoor and window seats.
