The Conduit Street flagship of Daniel Hersheson has been offering great blow-dries and cuts since it opened in in the early 1990s. The clientele range from Vogue-staffers, who work just over the road, to brass-buttoned Mayfair inhabitants and a raft of out-of-towners who travel in for the superior services. Despite its swishy credentials, it's so mixed in the age and style of customer it draws that somehow this salon is one of the least intimidating super-salons on our list. We recommend Luke Sherrington for cuts (he performed a great hair-over on our limp-haired tester who was going from long to short). The in-house beauty therapist, Sherille Riley, offers excellent waxing and facials in her beauty room downstairs. The sister branch at Harvey Nichols caters for a slightly younger clientele, while the blow-dry bars at Topshop and Westfield London offer quick and trend-led styling from £22.
