Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 2012

If you are looking for a luxury calm stroll with classy company, then go somewhere else. If you live in the real capitalist world and want fun, rides, atmosphere and crowds queuing for food and slightly overpriced adrenalin rushes, then come to Winter Wonderland. It is more pleasant than the fun fairs I am used to in the UK. Some of the stalls have wonderful crafts on sale and the food smells amazing. The rides are not too pricey if you consider that a day at Alton Towers will set you back about 10 quid a ride based on 4 rides during the summer months when 100s of coaches from schools are there. My 9 year old daughter really enjoyed it and she is a seasoned theme park goer. Ice skating looked crowded though.

Visited the park week before Christmas. What a disappointment !!!!!!!!! Just a very pushy shovey load of no personality bars, food outlets just wanted to shove food you ordered in your mit then move on. lots of very pissed people in the bars, with bands playing loud out of tune noise. about as winter wonderland as a dose of clapp. No other reason to leave these comments other than its true.

My daughter visited on the weekend with her dad came across a stall they think selling real fur and at £200 a piece and they said the smell comming from the stall was sickening i did say you sure it wasnt faux fur her dad said or no this was real fur all you had to do was smell what they smelt. Quite disgusting really they can sell what ever they want.

LOVE Winter Wonderland! I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who doesn't like crowds, but if you like Christmas and FUN, then you'll love it! Don't go there if you're in a rush, and don't think that it will be a romantic date destination where you can walk along hand in hand, sipping your mulled wine... it's more likely that someone will bump into you and spill your wine down your Christmas sweater. I'd recommend a drink upstairs in the Oktoberfest pub, a brownie from the Jamie Oliver stall (AMAZING) and a wander through the Christmas Markets. It really is lovely, you just have to have a bit of patience!

Ugh. A funfair with a small xmas market attached. Incredibly crowded and overpriced. Not my idea of a 'wonderland'.

I have been starring at the egg timer on my leading edge PC for 20 minutes waiting for this website to download to something resembling a readable page. The prices come up BUT they don't tell what they relate too - unprintable. If their first impression is anything to go by avoid like the plague.

This was simply terrible. Too busy, queues for rides were stretching into 30 stints in the freezing cold. Security, Gallowglass, were overzealous with how they treated some people and were actually quite rude. Although the "attraction" uses a token system my friends and I noticed that near the end of the night a lot of the rides and stall games had switched back to money and our tokens were now worthless. I was hopeful that it wouldn't be as bad as I had imagined, but I was vastly disappointed.

Do you have to book tickets or can you just turn up & pay? And what are the times of peak/off peak for hyde park winter skating?
