Much of Great Britain's Kelly Holmes' athletics career was dogged by injury. But going into Athens 2004, she was in perfect condition and her fitness proved crucial as she triumphed in both the 800m (pictured) and the 1500m. At the age of 34, she was the oldest woman to win either event, let alone both.
