West Ham might have to sell half their squad in the new year and Liverpool may be forced to delay their stadium move again, but it appears one place the credit crunch isn't hitting is Millwall. A new £3.5 million loan – at a time when banks, let alone football clubs, are struggling to raise funds – should provide material rewards for manager Kenny Jackett's reaffirmation of his commitment to the Lions when the transfer window opens in January. With the club only two points off top place, spending money now to boost the push for promotion could prove very worthwhile in the long run. However, after the departure of one loan striker, Jermaine Easter, Jackett's immediate prayers will be that his recent last-minute scorer against Carlisle, Tresor Kandol, is not also recalled. If that happens, the team could look a little light up front, especially against Rovers, who boast the division's top scorer – Rickie Lambert. Still, with Rovers down in mid-table, the Den has good reason to be confident of another strong showing. Rob Hastings
