Having won six World Match Play titles over the West Course, Ernie Els knows Wentworth better than most golfers. The club's touring pro, who lives on the estate, was the obvious candidate to update 18 of the most famous holes in the game, and his revisions to Harry Colt's 1920s design have drawn unanimous praise. The PGA's flagship event has again drawn a superb field to the Surrey stockbroker belt, all hoping to emulate 2007 champion Anders Hansen who triumphed for the second time in six years. Level par after two rounds, Hansen then shot 67 and finally 69 on a wet and windy Sunday to put him in a play-off with Justin Rose. Both will be back in action this weekend, along with US Open champion Angel Cabrera, Retief Goosen, José Maria Olazábal and Vijay Singh. What chance Els, though, again proving he is genuinely master of all he surveys? Andrew Shields
