  • LV County Championship Kent v Hampshire

  • St Lawrence Ground, Old Dover Rd, Canterbury, CT1 3NZ
  • At 108-7 chasing a victory target of 140 against Yorkshire at Canterbury last week, Kent looked in danger of turning a stroll into a shambles. However, forgotten England wicket-keeper Geraint Jones and Yasir Arafat kept their nerve and steered their side home, the victory placing Kent right in the title mix; no side has broken clear of the field due to an abundance of rain-affected draws. With captain Rob Key and Martin van Jaarsveld in cracking form with the bat, Kent should be confident of posting decent scores against a Hampshire attack for whom last season's Championship challenge has turned into a battle to avoid relegation. Those who thought they'd struggle without Pietersen and Warne have been proved correct. Andrew Shields
