‘Billy the Kid’ video

Watch an exclusive clip of the acclaimed production from the author of ‘War Horse’

The Unicorn Theatre’s stage adaptation of ‘War Horse’ author Michael Morpurgo’s ‘Billy the Kid’ was one of Time Out’s favourite children’s shows of 2011.

Aimed at children aged eight and older, it  follows the life of promising young footballer Billy, who finds his burgeoning career at Stamford Bridge cut short by World War II, and he trades booting a bit of leather about for fighting Nazis in North Africa. Yes, he’s a Chelsea player, but don’t let that put you off: as ever with Morpurgo, it’s really an emotional story about war and reconciliation of past and present. Plus, Chelsea were a very different team back then.

Web pioneer Digital Theatre filmed a performance of the show, which is now available to purchase for stream or download over at www.digitaltheatre.com with a 30 per cent discount for Time Out readers over the February half-term.

If you'd like to sample the show before you buy, you can watch an exclusive scene in the video clip above.

To claim your discount simply enter the code TIMEOUT_BTK when you come to make your purchase (offer expires February 19; cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer; cannot be applied retrospectively).
