[title]We’re all going Beckett mad this spring. From June 2 to 21, the Barbican will be staging nine productions spanning much of Samuel Beckett’s career in its International Beckett Season. The season includes Sydney Theatre Company’s 'Waiting for Godot' starring Richard Roxburgh and Hugo Weaving, Robert Wilson’s 'Krapp’s Last Tape', Lisa Dwan in 'Not I/Footfalls/Rockaby', Olwen Fouéré in 'Lessness', Pan Pan Theatre’s 'All That Fall' and Company SJ’s 'Rough for Theatre I' and 'Act Without Words II'. There will also be an accompanying film season in the Barbican cinemas and a panel discussion with play directors.
To celebrate the International Beckett Season at the Barbican, we’ve teamed up with Tourism Ireland to offer two people a chance to explore the wonderful work of Beckett further with a trip to Northern Ireland’s Happy Days International Beckett Festival, which takes place over two long weekends between July 23 to August 3 2015. The prize includes return flights to Belfast, a two-night stay in a top hotel in Enniskillen with Irish breakfast, dinner one evening, two tickets to Happy Days festival and car hire. The town of Enniskillen has become renowned for its association with Samuel Beckett, who attended the town’s Portora Royal School. The festival takes place over various locations including all of Enniskillen’s four churches, the Ardhowen Theatre on the banks of Lough Erne, at Portora Royal School, and even in underground caves, on remote islands, and in hidden countryside spots. Highlights of this year’s festival include the first visit to Northern Ireland by the legendary Berliner Ensemble theatre company and world premieres of productions by Sophie Hunter, Adrian Dunbar and Max Stafford-Clark.
