Now in its tenth year, this Olivier-nominated tribute show has managed to woo audiences the world over by keeping the format devastatingly simple. Except for some funny and insightful between-song banter, there is no attempt to tell the personal stories of Frank Sinatra (the world's first pop icon with mob ties), Dean Martin or Sammy Davis Jr.
This is good, old fashioned, no-nonsense entertainment. Three dudes, backed by a trio of shimmying showgirls and a swinging 12-piece band, sing some classic songs that you probably know, crack a few jokes and send you home with a kick in your step.
So what if Louis Hoover's Sinatra is the only one who even remotely resembles the character they are playing? Whatever the performers lack in physical canniness (a lot) they more than make up for with carefully studied physical mimicry and bags of charm. Consume a Dean Martin-inspired amount of hard liquor beforehand and you might even believe you really are watching 'The Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas'.
