  • Big budget films adapted for the stage tend to prove gaudy, meretricious affairs, especially when there's a mist of nostalgia obscuring all but the most glaring faults. With 'Dirty Dancing', cynics will note the resolutely untheatrical digitally animated backdrop, the clumsy split-level design and the seemingly uninspired parroting of the movie script. But by the interval it's clear why this show has taken record advance bookings. The story of Baby Houseman's conversion from my-heart-belongs-to-daddy schoolgirl into sexy adolescent is the archetypal Ugly Duckling story. That's helped in no small respect by the fact that the object of her affections, dancing teacher Johnny Castle, is played by Josef Brown who has an electric dancing talent and a sex appeal to match.

Absolutly superb...... Dancing was fab and they had every scene down to 'T'. I went into there expecting to dislike this as i had no idea hoe they could convert the film into a stage show and i was completly blew away with how tremandous it was.... I envy every actor as they are all living out their dream. My only bug would be some of the accents, the guy who played Jonny castle was a tad strange and Doc Houseman lost his whole accent half way through.... but my friends who i watched it with didnt even realise as they were all t o engrossed...... Final word... GO.

I have seen Dirty Dancing four times now....and it gets better every time! Everything is spot on ..... especially Josef Brown who plays Johnny!, if you loved the film, you will love this, you know what's coming at the end, and you are on the edge of your seat with a massive grin! because this is one show that has a real feel good factor, whether you are on your own or with friends, you will enjoy it!

I went to see this yesterday...its was brilliant and it gave me goosebumps. However the actings was really bad. Does anyone know who played Johnny Castle on June 11th as it wasnt Josef Brown?

This was the worst musical I've ever seen and there have been many. The only highlight in the musical was the actress who played Lisa Houseman singing 'I Feel Pretty'. Don't waste your money on the overpriced disaster. Rent the classic movie instead!

Absolutely amazing and I'm a guy. The stage effects are done really well, the acting is spot on and the women in the crowd (or everyone who knows the film) love it. Top production, fine cast, well worth the price of admission.
