  • Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, 'Wicked' explains how the Wicked Witch of the West (Elphaba) in 'The Wizard of Oz' wasn't really wicked at all, more a defender of those the Wizard sought to repress. While in contrast, her on-off friend, the pretty and spoilt Glinda, isn't always virtuous, especially when her numbskull boyfriend unexpectedly falls for Elphaba's green skin. The sly references to 'The Wizard of Oz' are hugely enjoyable. But the ending is a terrible cop out, and, rather like the Wizard himself, there's something very conventional lurking behind the spectacle.

A truly amazing show, wicked indeed lives up to its name. From the quirky yet at times deep storyline, to the scores of Stpehan Schawrz's incredible songs, wicked truly is a delight for all to see. In short Wicked is spellbinding.

Expected to hate it but loved every minute. Will surely go again. Its fabulous-and a lot better than that terrible Lord of the Rings.

Well worth seeing. i have seen the show 3 times and performed it 4 times, the music, set, dancing and actors are all amazing. Good luck finding a more imaginative and magical musical on the west end.
