Berlioz's epic version of the Trojan war and its aftermath in a new production by David McVicar, conducted by Antonio Pappano. After the destruction of Troy, the Trojan warrior Énée sets out on a journey to found a new dynasty. He meets Didon, Queen of Carthage, and falls in love. But will Énée's love for Didon prove stronger than his sense of duty? Not seen at the Royal Opera House since 1972, this five-act operatic tour de force bristles with international names such as Bryan Hymel (Enée), Eva-Maria Westbroek (Didon) and Anna Caterina Antonacci (Cassandre).
