  • There can’t be too many who attempt to explore the melancholy and existential when they’re trying to get the gurning masses going, but this lot certainly do. It’s not just in their own soul-aware music but in the songs they listen to. This made-for-the-bedroom set veers from sensual tracks by electro-soul chum Grosvenor to Etta James’ sweaty soul, the funky disco-tech of Black Devil Disco Club and a claustrophobic garagescape from Wookie . It’s an emotional and thoughtful trip; what else from Hot Chip?
