The Red Hedgehog is relative newcomer to London’s arts scene, a mini 100-seat concert hall and theatre in Highgate that opened in 2006. Throwing its slight weight about to great effect, the venue has welcomed a host of fine musicians to the stage including Peter Donohoe, Emma Kirkby and Burning Bush, as well as curating a good mix of theatre, children’s shows, exhibitions and youth drama workshops. It’s been doing so well, in fact, that founder Clare Fischer opened a second Red Hedgehog a 47-seat studio space next door in 2010, with a plan to produce more in-house works with a focus on the classics.
