The Soane Museum hosts the first major survey of illustrator, war artist and muralist Alan Sorrell (1904-1974). Best remembered for his archaeological reconstructions, Sorrell created any number of intricate and beautiful works of art, large and small. He lived an extraordinary life, too: confined to a bath chair in his youth due to a heart condition, Sorrell nonetheless joined the RAF during WWII, before finding his métier with archaeological illustration.
