[title]
The inaugural Camden Create festival – an event dedicated to celebrating the area's flourishing creative community – hits London in May. For three days pubs, shops, galleries and other venues across the borough will host a variety of events, many of which are aimed at supporting a new wave of young trendsetters. There'll be talks from some big local names – including Wayne Hemingway MBE, founder of fashion label Red or Dead (May 15) and Alex Proud of Galleries fame (May 14) – aimed at inspiring and sharing tips on how to get ahead in the creative industries. There'll also be career boosting workshops, including classes in video CV-making (May 14) and street photography (all three days). The other side to the event is more hedonistic – including the Taste of Camden showcase (all three days), taking in some of the area's under-the-radar eateries and independent traders, a comedy night (May 13), and in true Camden style, a finalé in the form of a big boozy knees-up at the Jazz Café (May 15).
