Time Out says

If ever man was in need of a best friend it was during World War One, and this exhibition tells of how dogs did a great job being both companions and workers between 1914-18. The photographs are taken from the collection of Libby Hall, who acquired thousands of photographs of dogs between 1966 and 2006 and has chosen her favourites from the period to reveal hidden stories of the bond between man and dog from a century ago.

A series of free philosophy discussions titled 'My Friends and Other Animals' will accompany the exhibition. The first 'My Robot, My Friend' (Saturday April 11, 2.30pm-4pm) will approach the issue of befriending artificial intelligence. Could humans ever relate to robots as friends? And would it then be wrong to then switch them off? The second 'Man's Best Friend?' (Saturday April 18, 2.30pm-4pm) will combine philosophy, neuroscience and animal behaviourism to question our relationship to animals. Does having an animal in your life lead to greater fulfilment? Are animals in some sense even preferable to humans? The third talk 'Animal Rights and Wrongs' explores the nature of our moral responsibilities to animals. Do they have rights? If so, are they the same as human rights?
