Up at Kenwood House they've been working away to restore its exterior and something a little special, the Kenwood House Dairy. For those of you who have been there before, you may have noticed a little trio of white cottages with charming slate roofs – well, that's the old Dairy, which is now open to view for the public. So to celebrate these restorations, Kenwood House are holding a free garden fete this weekend, with stalls full of vintage wares, traditional games, free music and afternoon tea.

I was so glad I didn't miss the Kenwood Fete. I love visiting Kenwood anyway but it was really special there yesterday. It was a perfect setting to watch a horse drawn carriage full of happy children and parents ride along the Heath. I chatted to a charming volunteer next to some cattle by the Old Dairy where I'd been fascinated to hear a beautiful young girl dressed as a dairy maid and actually making butter, describe what her life would have been like. I'd also watched some good drama in the flower garden, popped into the various stalls and was tempted by the BBQ and cakes galore. I came home and raved to friends and next door neighbours they'd better go today and not miss such a treat. I shall certainly be going again next year and taking a posse along with me!
