I've had numerous trainers throughout London over the years, but since meeting Dales at transformforlife.co.uk I've changed shape, changed my outlook on training in general and feel 20 times better. He's calm, understands its not just exercise but nutrition as well that counts. Added to that the sessions are always fun, always different, he understands injury prevention as well as working with what you've already got. I definitely recommend if you live around Kensal Rise, Queens Park or Maida Vale

I've had an amazing experience with Jacob (the guy behind http://movementFirst.co.uk ). He's an absolute legend and made a massive difference: I lost fat and built muscle in a way I never thought possible.

The funny thing is that I'm not half as impressed with those results considering that he managed to do a better job than 3 physios in improving my posture getting me freakishly strong and fixing my bad back and injured shoulder. He's a true expert and I'm sure he can help anyone at any level. As a fitness model who knows the secrets of the industry, I can't recommend anyone better. Get in touch with him, he will help.

Just saw this thread and thought I would mention a London based trainer I use when I’m there (I’m based in Hong Kong) His name is Ross and he is truly brilliant. I have even made my trainer in Hong Kong stick to Ross’s workout plans that he puts together for me. I used to have injuries that slowed me down but no more. I can’t speak highly enough about him! www.metabolicfitness.co.uk

No that's not him, there's only ever been one real PTGuru and that's Phil. A lot of companies have started up with one or two of his methods or a play on his name but The Personal Training Guru is in a league of his own. I suggest you give him a try first my dear and get the full picture.

"Anyone heard of the Personal Training Guru? He's based in London too and I always hear great things about that guy so I googled him. Cool guy, great blog!" hey Maria, are you talking about guruprive.com? I'm a member there and they are awesome. They mainly do mobile personal training and they send a personal trainer to train me directly at my home or sometimes in the park when it's nicer. You should defo give them a call #worth it.

no Brainer you have to check MUNSTERFIT.COM ...I have just signed with Fabrice at munsterfit just two weeks ago and i can tell you he is a very special guy. I only had 8 sessions with him and already lost 4kg plus my pre-christmas belly. Now my wife wants to start training with him too since she is noticing the results.

The only two best personal training companies that have a 5 stars rating by the fitness professionals are Guruprive.com and MUNSTERFIT.COM they both provide different services, guruprive specialises in home personal training; meaning they would train you directly in your own house, while Munsterfit specialises in luxury high end personal training. to be honest i am very critical of gyms and personal training but these are the only two that have won over my credibility. Two of my friends use guruprive which they all love because of their flexibility and john (my brother) has been training at Munsterfit for over a year and has drastically improve the way he looks.

However good your personal trainer is, your results massively depend on how good your nutrition and exercise regime is between your PT sessions. There's a free social network called Fitness Buddy, where you can find a gym buddy or any sports buddy and meet up to go to the gym, play tennis etc , whatever is your favourite activity. All totally free. See http://www.fitness4london.com/fitnessbuddy Some people think that one personal training session a week is all they need to get fit, but you need to be exercising at least 3 times a week, and eat healthily every day. Fitness Buddy enables you to team up with someone with the same goals for free, to encourage and motivate each other.

After coming across this website, i felt compelled to write a review on a personal training team that are leading the way when it comes to professionalism, results and with one of the largest before and after portfolios on the net. I was an overweight, 49 year old, pizza loving dad of 4 before i started with Senkai Health and Fitness. Within 9 months, Steve (co-founder) had completely transformed my mind and body into a ripped, athletic muscular and strong physique that some 20 year olds would die for, let alone 49 year olds!! You can check out my BEFORE & AFTER photos on their website www.senkai.co.uk and click success stories. They are not the "we train lots of celebrities" type trainers. To be honest Steve tells me they are not interested in that side of the industry, they are just keen to take normal every day background clients and completely transform their physiques, lifestyle and approach to eating. check them out, you wont be disappointed www.senkai.co.uk Jim

Hi, i read this and thought i share my experience too. I have been training with Fabrice at www.munsterfit.com for over two years now. He is a PURE GENIUS. he changed my life physically and mentally. when I first started I lost about 9kg of Fat in just 6 weeks. I had a very low self-esteem and now guys are chatting me up in the street and complementing me about my body shape. This would NEVER have been possible without the help of Fabrice. I totally agree when they say he is the best trainer in the world. He also trained loads of A-List Celebrities like Matt leblanc. GIRLS!! Fabrice is the BEST investment to transform your body to the next level.

I have tried many Personal trainers and the only one i would ever recommend is Ross, www.metabolicfitness.co.uk And I am only recommending him as I'm leaving the country for work, the last thing i would want is for ross to be to busy to fit me in. Try him out, you won't be disappointed. Oh and mention my name Richard, I might get a free session or two when I'm in London.

Peter Sleight has been training me for about ten years, since I set out to recover from my pregnancy weight gain. From the very first session he has been nothing but agreeable and dedicated and his professionalism, patience and perseverance are exceptional. I have a very complicated life as I juggle work and family, and my tiredness and motivation vary wildly, yet Peter manages to keep me focussed and fit through thick and thin! I cannot say enough good things about him– as a trainer, he is constantly building his own knowledge to stay on top of all the latest developments. His temperament is constant and forthright and he is always courteous and on time. He is very good at adapting to the very different needs of his clients: he has now been training my husband as well for many years. Feel free to ask him to put you in touch with me if you would like a to be in touch with me directly. www.pspersonaltraining.com 07717933844

I would like to recommend Juste Simkute (www.personaltrainerjuste.com). I was a bit sceptical at the beginning training with a female as my goals were to build muscle mass. How wrong I was, Juste really put me through my paces to work me hard. She is reliable and firm but understanding and full of energy.

VERY poor experience with Guy Warren (he works out of Clapham) really unprofessional and put me off the whole thing. Paid for 7 sessions and didn't even bother with the last two - he no-showed twice and looked a mess.

Lisa-Jane at Wildcat Fitness in West London is the best PT I've used. I've been going for 4 months and really seen results. It's never the same workout and it keeps you interested and wanting to do more. The other real difference has been the advice "outside" the sessions. The nutritional/supplement side is, I've quickly come to realise, as important and she's given me so much great advice. I've progressed more in 4 months than I thought possible. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Try Fit Fast Trainers run by Exercise Specialist and Level 4 Personal Trainer Peter Sleight. You can book a trainer online and have them turn up at your front door within 48 hours. Peter was happy to help with any questions I had and he also offers great support. I have trained with two of his trainers just to mix it up a little. Its great, no need to stick with the same trainer and the online booking system is great. Love Fit Fast Trainers! Thanks you Peter.

Jamie Heseltine is an awesome private teacher. I love how she dips in and out of a plethora of yoga styles to fit the mood of the day. Sometimes we practice without music which is always more rewarding than I remember after but I usually find it hard to resist her tunes. Her playlists take you on a journey so that you forget you are working out and get lost in the endorphins shooting around your bloodstream... yes thinking about it we get high! ... And I get the best nights sleep of the week. Love it.

The best Personal Trainer in West London is Lisa-Jane at Wildcat Fitness - really takes the time to get to know you and your goals and is so motivating - even when it gets tough. Check out her site: www.wildcatfitness.co.uk you won't be disappointed! I felt hugely confident on my wedding day as a result of training with her and toning up to look good in my dress....

I can recommend personal trainer Juste Simkute, she is based in central London, her website www.personaltrainerjuste.com . I have been training with this trainer for a year already and she became a person I can't imagine my week without anymore. She helped me to loose weight, start living healthier and became my friend. More than recommend this warm person

Check out the trainers at City Athletic, near Bank (www.cityathletic.co.uk) - best team of personal trainers in London in my opinion! They are all national champions in their own sports including football, cricket, rugby and their female trainer is a powerlifting champion and ex dancer. A really friendly, highly skilled bunch! www.cityathletic.co.uk helped me to lose over 30lbs in 6months and I feel better than ever. I've finally got my dream body, Sarah you are my saviour!!

I have just had it confirmed by Time Out Magazine, that Nick Mitchell of Ultimate Performance, was not awarded the title of "Time Out London Personal Trainer 2010" he was simply featured in an article within the magazine and to confirm this you can also see that "Ultimate Performance" isn't even listed in their list of recommended Gyms? Therefore all his references to this Title are False dilusionary and Undeserved. As Nick Mitchell would say #Cut the BS, Nick Mitchell your a fraud.

Flint

So, these personal trainers are some of the best or are they the best? Nick mitchell for example tells everyone on his website, facebook page and on Twitter, he is the "Time Out London", Best personal Trainer of the year 2010?, is this true? The article just shows a selection of 5 Personal/Fitness Trainers available in london who are concidered by Time Out not to be "Run of the mill"? Was this article a competition? a result of a Time Out customer questionaire or Poll? I dont think so? This claim made by Nick Mitchell, misleads potential customers and the general public. The title "The Time Out London Personal Trainer of the Year 2010" is just a figment of Mr Mitchell's imagination I beleive? and his claim to have it is quite sad really.

Marianne is always a real grafter when it comes to working out. She is the kind of girl who was ALWAYS at Rooneys training herself HARD there is no doubting that. To be honest she isn't though a great boxer I'm afraid and I've sparred with her often. she no longer goes to Rooneys after a 'falling out' Rooneys gym today is pretty boring and mundane for lessons with most of the old team gone who used to mix it up a bit in the lessons but today theres nothing but repetativeness and it is cardio with no pressure on the person to push hard. You will be also hard pushed to ever see Terry Edwards there at all.

Nick and his team are Amazing!! Unlike John here, sadly not all of us are professionals when it comes to weight training so we do need a little help, and these guys are in a whole league of their own! This is not said lightly, I have been trained by many and never achieved anything other than frustration... With the team at Ultimate performance, I was able to drop dress sizes within weeks. They will teach you how and what you are really suppose to eat to achieve an optimal mind and body! none of this fad diet nonsence! Oh and if you don't think these guys look anything special John, then you must be extremely lean and muscular, because none of these guys have a body fat over 5-10%! Please post pictures John, Im dying to see!

These PTs look excellent - I would also really recommend John Limpus at the Urban Vitality Company. I hated exercise but after haing 2 kids I knew I had to do something to stop the fish finger and chips spread! John gives the whole package (fitness/ nutrition / lifestyle) and for people who can't afford one-on-one PT there is loads of free resources on the website - www.urbanvitality.com - def worth a quick look. Well done to everyone who is trying to get in shape - I've nearly lost 4 stone! L

@naomi c Do you know how Munsterfit works, in terms of pricing? I can't find any info on their website and I'm a bit scared it might be too posh/high-end to be affordable, esp given Fabrice's celebrity client list. Many thanks.
