Time Out says

The infectiously bright and jolly ‘Cars and Trucks and Things That Go’ by the late Richard Scarry is one of designer Paul Smith’s favourite children’s books. So when Harper Collins invited Smith to create a new limited-edition hardback cover and interactive slipcase design (£25) for the fortieth anniversary of the classic, he didn’t hesitate. He’s also come up with a gorgeous signed and numbered book and art print box set (£200) that’s a real collector’s item. You can meet both Smith and Scarry’s son Huck, who now manages his father’s work as well as following in his footsteps as a writer and illustrator, at a signing session this Saturday. While adult book lovers and design fans revisit the pleasures of childhood, a real fire engine has been drafted in to make sure little kids with grubby fingers are fully occupied.
