The museum houses material from the Academy's collections of instruments, archives, manuscripts and images and holds regular performances and demonstrations that make use of the instruments on display. There are also regular temporary exhibitions. UntilApril 2014 the museum has an exhibition on the work of much-loved jazz trumpeter and composer, Kenny Wheeler, who at 84 has spanned an extraordinary breadth of styles and historical events, and composed some of the most beautiful compositions in the genre.
