The National Trust in association with Time Out Live present 'Behind Closed Doors', working with institutions to view the gems within the heart of London, currently hidden from view.

Tucked behind the brutalist Barbican lies the historic Charterhouse: once a medieval burial ground, it has by turns been a monastery, Tudor mansion, school and almshouse, as it remains to this day.

At this event, the first in the series, discover the Charterhouse's beautiful buildings and remarkably eclectic history – from playing host to Elizabeth I and surviving the Blitz to taking a major role in the development of football.

This tour shows parts of the historic Carthusian monastery at present closed to the public. The tour concludes in the Fuller's City Pride Pub.

I also cannot get tickets for this tour. It would be nice if you were alerted to the fact that they were either sold out or not available due to such close timings of the event. If this is the case, it would be good to know whether one could turn up on the day. Thanks

The Behind Closed Doors tour of Charterhouse does not appear to be available in the tickets area of your site. The other venues in this series are available.

Hi Dr Helena Szucs, I can confirm timing as either 2:15pm or 4pm either day, and it'll last around an hour and a half so you would definitely be able to make the theatre afterwards... should be an amazing tour! Best wishes, Natasha

I'll travel to L 02/11/12-06/11/12 so interested in Charterhouse tour. Please tell me the timing/details of this program - on 3rd, Sat I'll visit the Houseof Parliament from 10:30am (perhaps the Rose appr. 13-14pm), the Twelfth Night in the Apollo begins 19:30pm. Next day I'll surely be at the British Museum at 10am (maybe 15pm in the National Portrait Gallery) & I have a ticket for Dance Prom at the Royal Albert Hall for 18:30pm.
