London heroes past and present?
‘Terence Conran for Habitat. It was “affordable-designer”, and it brings back memories of my first flat. Peter Blake, Ossie Clark, David Hockney, David Bailey, Katharine Hamnett – her slogan T-shirts are iconic.’
What’s your favourite place or thing in London?
‘The Tate Modern is fantastic; I think it’s brilliant. I never cease to be amazed at how much they have.’
What’s the future of fashion in London?
‘I think it had a bad time, but it’s really picking up now and I think it will get stronger and stronger. At one point there were too many designers starting out without any idea of what they are doing. They hadn’t even got anyone they were selling to, and yet they were wanting to have a fashion show.’

What does Time Out mean to you?
‘I think it’s absolutely fantastic – it gives you everything you need to know about London. I love the guides too – I think the last one I bought was the Barcelona guide. In the 1970s it was quite rebellious and political. I think it’s amazing that it’s been going for 40 years.’
What’s the best party you’ve ever been to?
‘Oh God, there’s loads. One that I will always remember is my first anniversary – we had a big pyjama party at John’s studio [her husband is photographer Jonathan Prau]. Loads of people came and it was really good fun.’
