This returning documentary strand isn’t always easy viewing but it rewards perseverence in spades. Following six disabled children as they journey through life, ‘Born to be Different’ rejoins the youngsters as they begin the transition from primary to secondary school.

The courage of kids, parents and siblings alike is a wonder to behold – William’s tuberous sclerosis has led to complex epilepsy and autism and his mother Paula has developed MS; if this remarkable family don’t have you counting your blessings, there’s probably no hope for you. But there’s great cheer too, not least in the shape of young New Zealander Hamish. At 13, he’s already a star of the swimming pool. Does Rio 2016 beckon? Hamish certainly thinks so – in fact, he’s talking medals. A fascinating, moving testimony to making the best of the hand life has dealt you.
