Comic Relief
Fri Mar 15, 7pm-2.50am, BBC1/2
Fri Mar 8 2013
With the return of Ricky Gervais as David Brent, an appearance by Rowan Atkinson as the new Archbishop of Canterbury and a performance by the ubiquitous One Direction among the countless (over seven) hours of entertainment, ‘Comic Relief’ certainly can’t be accused of not trying. And despite the evening’s overwhelmingly packed agenda, it’s hard to be too cynical when it’s all for such a worthy cause, even if watching Jessie J have her hair shaved off is considered entertainment in this context.
The same people who enjoy the mini episode of ‘Call the Midwife’ are unlikely to be the same ones that tune in to the ‘Fresh Meat’ mini-episode, but surely only the most committed of ‘Comic Relief’ fans are going to be glued to their sets from 7pm to 2.50am. Still, as long as you donate a few quid along the way, it’ll all have been worthwhile.
