Series one, episode one
With house prices rising ever higher, more and more people are taking the opportunity to build their dream home – or says this new ten-part series on More4. In tonight’s first episode, architectural designer Charlie Luxton meets Adam and Vicki Nicholl, a pair of thirty-somethings who want to give up life in London and return to their childhood home of Pirton in Hertfordshire.
With a plot of land next door to Adam’s mum’s house which backs on to the property of Vicki’s parents, the pair are hoping to save 100 grand off normal prices in the village and have the house finished within six months, while also working full-time. Full of bursts of inspiration for people trying their own projects, and with a new twist on a tried and tested concept, ‘Building the Dream’ should fit nicely alongside ‘Grand Designs’ in Channel 4’s neverending property love-in.
