Frankie
Tue May 21, 9-10pm, BBC1
If you like your dramas gentle, then you may want to take in this bittersweet six-parter following the life of a district nurse juggling her own problems with those of her patients. Tonight’s second episode sees headstrong Frankie (Eve Myles) dealing with the discovery of her boyfriend’s infidelity – bad enough without having to also deal with her tragic and troubled patients, whom our heroine swoops in to console like a superhero Florence Nightingale.
Granted, this is rather on the twee side. But if you’re willing to overlook a lack of complexity it’s a nice little watch, with heartfelt acting somewhat making up for any weaknesses. Don’t worry if you’ve missed the first episode, as every week promises a new strand of storylines.
