Live Uefa Champions League Final

Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund. At Wembley. It may be a tabloid editor’s worst nightmare, but no one can deny that Germany have fielded the strongest teams in Europe this year, arguably signalling a genuine shift in footballing power from La Liga to the Bundesliga. It should be a compelling, tightly contested affair, and it’s also screening on Sky Sports 1 from 6pm, should you have concerns about ITV cutting to ‘Coronation Street’ during a penalty shootout or something.

But the Champions League Final is merely the centrepiece of a tremendous weekend of live sport. Tonight also pits perenially undersung super middleweight Carl Froch against mighty Dane Mikkel Kessler in a keenly anticipated rematch (after Kessler won 2010’s gripping tussle). But this time Froch’s on home turf: the fight is at the O2 Arena and broadcast from 8pm on Sky Box Office.

Tomorrow sees favourites Arsenal face Bristol Academy at Doncaster’s Keepmoat stadium in the Women’s FA Cup Final (from 2.25pm on BBC2) and ITV recommence its unexpectedly impressive relationship with Grand Slam tennis – with or without Andy Murray, their French Open coverage starts at 11.30am.
