Robbie Williams: One Night at the Palladium

The proud creator of the UK’s 1,000th number one album, ‘Swings Both Ways’, takes to the stage at the West End institution for what sounds very much like ITV’s crumbly ‘An Audience with…’ format. Celebrity audience and collaborators (including Rufus Wainwright and Lily Allen). A combination of carefully prepared anecdotes and heart-on-sleeve confessions. The Muppets.

Reports from the gig, which took place on November 8, suggest the former Take That man was on good, wisecracking form, although his cocked-eyebrow ventures on to Frank Sinatra’s turf are very much an acquired taste; does the world, for example, really need a swing version of ‘Creep’? At least – spoiler alert! – he doesn’t play ‘Angels’. Will Ed Miliband ever forgive him?
