It was only a matter of time before Clare Balding and the Queen got together. They’ve got so much in common. The horses. The poshness. The vice-like grip on the heart of the nation. Indeed, if Britain decided to elect a female monarch, Balding might be well advised to stand. Her Maj might even feel a little threatened.
Either way, Balding inches ever closer to the heart of real power, tonight infiltrating the Royal family via her shared passion for our long-faced, burger-bolstering chums. She’ll be hanging out with the Princess Royal and Zara Phillips as she examines the Queen’s personal involvement in top class racehorses as well as her work to preserve the native pony breeds of Britain. Or so she says. We reckon the slow-motion coup begins here…
