Opened in 2007, Dex is plush members' club and boutique hotel that sits above the popular Prince Albert pub and is a beacon for Brixton's new young professional media crowd looking for somewhere sexy for post-work and late-night drinks. Its USP? The two-tiered Balearic-style rooftop bar with its hot tub and panoramic views over Brixton, where techno (Kerfuffle), hip hop (Mind Yuh Business) and even Balkan (raucous rompers Stranger Than Paradise) DJs blast the beats. Week nights at Dex are all about secret gigs by big name bands such as Basement Jaxx who take to the small stage after belting out their hits down the road at Brixton Academy. With a 6am license at weekends, plush hotel rooms (complete with their own decks) for members and a restaurant this is a music industry mecca.
