St James's Piccadilly is the only Wren church outside the City to hold free lunchtime recitals (Mon, Wed, Fri at 1.10pm) and also offers regular evening concerts of all musical varieties. It was first opened to the public in 1648 and has several serious claims to fame - William Blake was baptised here in 1757, Leopold Stokowski was choirmaster from 1902 until 1905 before he became a world-famous conductor and the poet Robert Graves had his wedding here in 1918. The church has a café attached and arts and crafts markets are held at the church from Wednesday to Saturday, with an antiques market on Tuesday.
