‘Babar, the little elephant and other stories’
a piano recital for children
Wednesday July 6th at 18:00
Westminster Cathedral Hall
This unusual piano recital is based on children's songs from France and Brazil which are first sung by the performer Tara Jaffar and then played by Ivan as full piano arrangements by Mozart (12 variations on the theme of 'Ah vous dirai-je maman', of which the English version is known as 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star') and Hector Villa-Lobos (‘Cirandas’).
Children and adults will thus have the opportunity to follow the entertaining and educational progression from the children's arrangement to a full-scale version for solo piano. Tara will also narrate an exciting children's story ('Babar the little elephant') accompanied by Ivan on piano with music by Francis Poulenc.
Ivan Pires is producing the recital and will donate 5% of box office receipts to Barnardos, the UK children’s charity. Tickets are priced at £10 and £8 concession (family of 4, £8 adult and £6 child). Tickets are being sold 20% off through http://www.wegottickets.com/event/122960
or Ivan’s personal website: www.myspace.com/ivanpires
