Sitting in the shadow of Alexandra Palace, this former British Rail laboratory has been transformed into a beautiful and sophisticated gym. There is an underground swimming pool as well as an exercise room with the most up-to-date Cybex strength and cardio equipment which faces out on to pretty tree-lined views. There is also a well-spaced weights room and functional zone, four beauty and holistic treatment rooms and a poolside day spa and relaxation area with dedicated manicure and pedicure spaces. There's also a wide range of yoga classes on offer.

I'm a member, I would say that the timeout review is a bit biased and incorrect. On first visit it seems good compared to say, an average Fitness First, but it's not really high class. Lisa is totally correct, the stretch area is tiny and overcrowded, and the classes can be. Also, quite a few of the machines need repair (two of the cross trainers have been bumpy for ages) the pool is quite small (if nicely cleaned with oxygen over chlorine), the sauna co-ed, they sometimes charge you extra for certain classes despite the high monthly fee, and often the change rooms aren't super clean even. While the girls who work there seem sweet some of the chaps come across rather arrogant indeed and twice now at front desk they didn't even know what the classes were when I asked for a description!
Lovely club, warm atmosphere, clean, friendly, good instructors, gorgeous pool!
i wouldn't describe the "abdominal area" (stretching area) as well spaced. it's really crowded, there's only space for about four or five people to work comfortably.
otherwise the gym is nice, though small. the classes always over run and the instructors vary greatly in efficiency. there's no power in the ladies bathrooms, so hair straighteners aren't possible.
it's a good gym, but needs to fix a few fundamentals.
